Looking for a Great Value Headset? Check out the Monoprice 8323

[June 2012] Dana Puopolo loves to find great gear at super prices. This time the target is ear-phones. How low do you think Dana can go?

As most of you know, I love In-Ear Monitors (IEMs). Once in a while though, a regular over-the-ear headset is needed.

In this edition of The Cheap Channel, I want to introduce you to a pair of $23 earphones that sound better than some costing over $100. They are the Monoprice 8323.

A Great Buy

Put simply, these earphones blew me away! They remind me of the pre-2002 Sony 7505/06 (when they were still being made in Japan instead of China). They simply sound amazing – even out of the box, but especially so after a few hours of break in.

They simply do absolutely nothing wrong – they are 100% reference grade!

They also look and feel pretty rugged.

If you are wondering if they will stand up to control room use, the answer is yes.

Even at this price level the Monoprice 8323 is fairly well-built and has excellent noise isolation. You can use them as shared headsets in the Control Room – even at a college station – and out on remotes.

These headsets have a 1/8th inch input in the left ear – that is the only visible wiring connection.

The Monoprice 8323 comes with two 1/8th inch to 1/8th cords, a 4-foot cord, and a heavier 8-foot one. They also come with the ubiquitous 1/8th to ¼ inch adapter.

Here is the URL to get more information. Pick up one – or two pairs of these. Trust me, you just cannot go wrong!

Shipping on one pair is around $6 but if you buy more than one pair the price and shipping both go down.

Bottom line: you will like this headset.

This one gets the Dana Seal of Approval.
