Disaster Recovery Assistance

When bad things happen, it is good to know where you can turn for quick assistance. Here are some resources. (If you do not have a generatoe, you might want to print this page and keep it handy.)

FCC: the Disaster Information Reporting System. This site is for communications providers, broadcasters, and others to report problems and status. Assistance in arranging for STA's is available.   or call the FCC 24/7 Operations Center at: 202-418-1122

FAA: The number to call for reporting tower beacon and side-light outages: 1-877-487-6867
(Be sure to get the NOTAM number and call and report when the lights are restored!)

Nautel emergency service is at: 877-628-8353. Main number 877-662-8835

Telos/Omnia/Axia has announced a special service for stations which suffer major losses from floods, tornados - or any other disaster.

A 24-7 Natural Disaster Priority Service line has been set up, designed to facilitate the fastest possible equipment delivery to restore a primary site, enhance a backup site, or to help with studio-transmitter links. Installation help is also available.

If you are a disaster victim, you can phone 216-622-0247 at any. Personnel are trained in rapid shipment and will coordinate logistics while you can focus on other problems.

On-Site Technical Help: in addition to help from manufacturers, many of the contract engineers listed on the BDR can help you out in an emergency with on-site response or advice by phone. Check them out under "Services," "Contract Engineering."  A direct link is here.
